130 MW and Counting: STT GDC India’s Green Expansion

STT Global Data Centres India (STT GDC), a leading provider of AI-ready colocation data centre services, has expanded its long-term partnership with Clean Max Enviro Energy Solutions, taking the total renewable energy capacity beyond 130 MW through the signing of additional power purchase agreements (PPAs).

The latest agreement adds 21 MWp of solar capacity to CleanMax’s existing wind-solar hybrid supply for STT GDC India’s data centres in Chennai, Tamil Nadu. With this addition, the partnership now spans key data centre hubs across Tamil Nadu and Maharashtra. As part of the arrangement, STT GDC India will also scale up its captive green energy capacity by making a 26 percent equity investment in the renewable energy project.

Notably, the AI and data centre sector now accounts for around 42 percent of CleanMax’s contracted 5.7 GW capacity, reflecting nearly tenfold growth over the past two years.

Commenting on the development, Kuldeep Jain, Managing Director of Clean Max Enviro Energy Solutions Limited, said the expanding partnership highlights a broader shift among digital infrastructure providers toward integrating clean energy into their core strategies to support sustainable growth.
